Teacher Gifts

Well, since I homeschool my kids, we don’t make Teacher gifts.  We make AWANA Leader gifts.

Altered Clipboard and Journal

Pin It IMG_1051IMG_1052
Usually I decoupage paper to the back of the clipboard. This time I stamped and used embossing powder.  I would think this is way more durable than the paper.  It would probably be even better to paint and then stamp/emboss.

Listen to the Animals Devotional Book

Pin It Based on the book by William L. Coleman
Everyday we read a devotional discussing God’s creation – animals.  Every day we studied a verse, an animal, and a character trait.

The purse is made from the cuff of a VERY worn pair of jeans.
I cheated with the pocket – fabric glue is amazing!

Disney Cruise Craft: Mickey Mouse Hands

Did I mention Irene and I started this project the night before we left for the cruise?!?
IMG_2050_thumb
This is a left hand.
IMG_2046
This was a fast and dirty job.  Trace, cut with a generous seam allowance.
Sew on the lines.

IMG_2039
Only sew on the trace lines.  Leave the wrist part unsewn.

IMG_2040
Turn glove inside out.
The next step is the tricky part:
IMG_2044
Sew along the remaining wrist sections.
Fold wrist section up.  And you should get something which looks like this:
IMG_2049
The pattern for the left and right hand side are the same.  Just put the black felt pieces on the appropriate side.
IMG_2053
There were 18 people in our Disney Cruise Group.
DID I MENTION IRENE AND I STARTED THIS PROJECT THE NIGHT BEFORE WE LEFT?!?

Update:
Here is a scan of the pattern Irene made.  Print on 8.5x11 paper and tape together at dotted line A.

Disney Cruise Crafts: Pirate Hooks

IMG_2038

Irene T. had the brilliant idea we needed to craft some costuming the NIGHT before we left for the Disney Cruise.

For Pirate Night we made hooks.

Ingredients:

Purple felt
cardboard
silver adhesive (although we could have used aluminum foil)
hot glue

DIY planner

IMG_1257IMG_1258IMG_1259IMG_1260IMG_1261IMG_1262

I made this planner to be the size of a business envelope.  I really love spaces to make lists.  I need the lists more than I need the calendar.  It had a list for meal planning, shopping, school activities, computer to-do, house to-do.  The envelope is handy for tucking in reminder slips, receipts, the odd postage stamp.

The only downside was bulkiness.  It didn’t fit in my purse.
